Shipping Policy
At A Romance Court, we carefully pack and ship every order so it arrives safely at its destination. Below you'll find everything you need to know about our shipping process.
📦 Order Processing
- Orders are processed within 2–4 business days, excluding weekends and public holidays.
- During busy periods (launches, holidays, special events), processing times may be slightly longer.
- You will receive a confirmation email once your order has been shipped.
🚚 Shipping Destinations
We currently ship to Spain only, including the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla.
All international shipping is paused. Please see the notice below, which explains why and what we hope will change.
If you are outside Spain and would like to know when we expect to reach you, write to 📧 info@aromancecourt.com and we will keep you posted. You are always welcome to collect in store in Gràcia.
🇪🇺 Notice for customers outside Spain
A new EU packaging law started on 12 August 2026. It makes any shop selling into another EU country responsible for the recycling of the packaging it sends there, and requires registration in each country separately. Not one registration for Europe. One per country, each with its own annual cost, and in several countries a paid local representative on top.
We think this is a good law. Someone has to pay for the boxes and tape that pile up in the world, and it is fairer that the shops sending them pay than the towns receiving them. We are glad to pay our share. The difficulty is that most countries set no minimum size, so a shop sending five parcels a year carries the same cost as one sending fifty thousand. That runs to several hundred euros per country, every year, and we are one small bookshop in Gràcia.
We are not going to guess at this. Until we know exactly what we must do in each country and what it will cost, we have stopped shipping outside Spain rather than send parcels we are not certain we are entitled to send. We would rather disappoint you honestly than quietly hope nobody checks.

All destinations outside Spain. You will not be able to check out with an international delivery address for now.
If you already have an order
Nothing is cancelled without a conversation. If your order was due before October we are writing to you now. If it is due later, there is nothing to do yet and we will come back to you once we know more. Either way, if you would rather not wait, write to info@aromancecourt.com and we will refund you in full, no questions asked.
What happens next
We are working through the requirements country by country, and the European Parliament is expected to decide around 1 October 2026 on easing part of this for small businesses. If that passes, several countries become workable for us again. We will reopen them as fast as we can register, and we will say so here and on @aromancecourt.
It is a hard thing to write to readers who have supported this shop from the beginning, and we are sorry.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on destination, weight and size of the order, and the shipping method selected.

⏰ Estimated Delivery Times
Estimated delivery times begin after dispatch, not from the order date.
- Peninsula: 2–3 business days
- Balearic Islands: 2-3 business days
- Canary Islands: 7-12 business days
- Ceuta & Melilla: 9-13 business days
Please note that delivery times are estimates and may be affected by carrier delays, weather conditions, or customs processing.

📬 Tracking
Where available, a tracking number will be provided once your order has shipped.
⚠️ Incorrect Address or Failed Delivery
Please ensure your shipping address is correct at checkout.
We are not responsible for:
- Orders delayed or lost due to incorrect addresses
- Failed deliveries where the carrier cannot access the address
Additional shipping fees may apply if an order must be re-shipped.
💔 Lost, Delayed, or Damaged Orders
If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the issue.
If a package is marked as delivered but not received:
- Please check with neighbors or your local carrier first
- Then contact us so we can assist in opening a claim
🎁 Special Items & Pre-Orders
- Pre-orders are shipped once all items in the order are available.
- Orders containing book boxes or limited editions may ship slightly later due to careful packing.
- If a destination becomes unavailable between your order and its release date, we will contact you directly with your options.

This Shipping Policy complies with applicable Spanish and EU consumer protection laws.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
