In a world of magical artifacts and fantastical beings, a woman with a dangerous secret needs the help of the minotaur she's trying to forget.
Gwenna has always considered herself ordinary. A former maid, she wants nothing more than to secure a stable job at the Royal Guild of Artificers to earn some coin and help her mother.
She’s not special.
And she’s certainly not a necromancer.
That would be impossible, given that necromancy—or any sort of ‘mancy’—is forbidden under penalty of death.
So, if the dead keep talking to her… well, she’ll just keep ignoring them. She doesn’t plan on letting them get in the way of her dreams.
The other problem in her life is Raptor: a huge, arrogant, overly flirtatious Taurian. They slept together once, and now he wants more. But Gwenna doesn’t have time for distractions. Her priority is to survive her apprenticeship at the Royal Guild of Artificers.
Raptor isn’t going away, though, because he’s on a secret mission for the guild: to find an artifact thief.
The problem is, he thinks the thief is Gwenna.
How can she convince Raptor he’s wrong when all the evidence points to her?
And how do you explain to a Taurian that you can’t date him because you hear the dead… and it might just get you killed?
