Better Than the Movies

Liz Buxbaum has always known that her next-door neighbor, Wes Bennett, is not boyfriend material. He could be a contender for her romantic fantasies, but in reality, Wes has only proven to be a thorn in her side ever since they were kids. Wes was the boy who put a frog in her dollhouse, the monster who hid the decapitated head of a garden gnome in her little free library.

Ten years later, Liz is in her senior year of high school, a time that should be filled with perfect, silver-screen-worthy milestones, and she needs Wes's help. Michael, the boy she's had a crush on forever, just moved back to town, and unfortunately, he's hitting it off with Wes. Which means, if Liz wants Michael to notice she exists, and hopefully be her prom date, she needs her neighbor's help.

But as Liz and Wes plan the magical prom moment, she's surprised to find that she actually enjoys being with him. And as they continue to get closer, she'll have to re-examine everything she thought she knew about love, and rethink her own ideas of what a "happily ever after" should look like.
